EMEA Head of Compliance and Data Protection

EU Head of Compliance tasks include the following:
- Timely and accurate delivery of the Compliance Oversight Program and provision of mandatory monthly reports on consolidated and reconciles basis to Group Head of Compliance
- Support the Local Compliance Officers in completing the annual Group compliance plan with local findings, audit points or observations from auditors and regulators testing/visit;
- Reduce and manage the risk of violating laws and regulations applicable to the business on a regional level serving as the escalation point for local MLROs;
- Review and refresh policies, procedures and guidelines with maintenance and monitoring in a dedicated EU log;
- Work with the Global Compliance functions on programs such as PA Dealing, Conflict of Interests, insider trading and other wider compliance initiatives;
- Collaborate with the Global Compliance team and the local Compliance Officers to build robust knowledge and standards enabling staff to recognize, detect, and report money laundering, terrorist financing, and/or suspicious activity;
- Oversee the local Compliance officers in the application of the money laundering/counter-terrorist financing, fraud prevention and anti-bribery and corruption measures and monitoring, with special focus on the adherence to the respective Group policies, procedures and monitoring logs (e.g. PEP approval, High-Risk approvals, client acceptance and client reviews, );
- Provide guidance to your Local Compliance for establishing effective, risk-focused, business-specific AML/KYC procedures;
- Monitor the local Compliance are constantly preserving the established three lines of defence model;
- Oversee, track and combine the Local Compliance officers yearly independent tests and escalate any issue to the Group Head of Compliance;
- Assess monthly reports prepared by local Compliance Officer to ensure risk factors are managed and higher risk investors are controlled;
- Act as the main point of contact for the local Regulators where relevant;
European Data Protection Officer tasks include the following:
- Assess where business or data processing requires the mandatory appointment of a DPO vs an internal Data Protection representative (assess considering risk vs revenue)
- Review Global Operating Model in relation to the need of having an EU representative within EU (art. 27 GDPR) ;
- Timely and accurate delivery of the Data Protection and Data Privacy group compliance oversight program, including consolidated Data processing Inventory and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) status in EU and per office;
- When carrying out DPIA, the EU DPO shall review the local DPO assessment prior to the final project/new business sign off;
- Review selected directives, laws and local regulatory frameworks as well as market standards around Data Protection and support the Group Head of Compliance and DPO in providing internal and client-facing Regulatory market updates;
- Ensure that EU local DPOs oversee local offices services and processes are in line with the applicable data protection and data privacy Special focus on Brexit impact for business and or group processes;
- Be the first point of escalation where the local discussion requires the involvement of the EU DPO;
- Administrative leader of the Group’s GDPR SteerCo supporting the Group DPO;
Skills Required:
- 10 years’ experience in the Financial Service Industry, holding a Group position;
- University degree in a relevant field such as Law, Finance, Economic;
- Regulatory Knowledge with Compliance, applicable laws, GDPR and Data Protection, Data Privacy;
- Knowledge of Compliance tools, Screening tools, risk rating methodology and approach and project management skills considered as a plus;
- Excellent methodical and diligent organisational skills to meet deadlines;
- Excellent writing and analytical skills to understand and present root causes and ensure proactive solutions;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with fluency in English;
- Advanced PC skills with strong knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook;
- Leadership and Management skills to foster collaboration and teamwork within a positive environment;
- Participate in industry forums linked to AML/CTF, Tax, Fraud prevention (amongst others);
- Any additional language will be considered an asset.
